F.A.Q

1. How to clean silver and gold jewellery?

The best way to clean your silver and gold jewellery is by purchasing a jewellery polishing cloth and gently rubbing your piece of jewellery with the cloth. After a couple of strokes of the cloth over the jewellery, the jewellery is restored to its original condition and is ready to wear once again. HOJ does not recommend that you dip your jewellery in Jewellery Cleaning Solutions as this will remove the jewellery’s natural protective cover and prevent it from restoration in the future.

An insider’s secret, is to rub your silver and gold with your household toothpaste and toothbrush and rinse with warm water. You will be amazed to see the difference.

2. Why do the price of the metals affect the price of my silver and gold jewellery?

As both silver and gold are commodities, they are traded on worldwide markets. As a result, the prices of the precious metals change on a daily basis. HOJ does its best to hedge the price of the precious metal in order to provide its consumers with the lowest possible price but does face unexpected increases in the price of the metals as a cost of doing business. As a result, all prices published on this website are as accurate as possible but may be adjusted on occasion on your final invoice due to varying costs of the metals at the date of purchase.

3. What is our minimium order?

Our Minimum order is $150 before shipping and tax.

4. Where is our jewellery from?

The jewellery is mainly imported from Italy, Thailand, China, India and USA.

5. What is our return policy?

House of Jewellery will only exchange or credit merchandise which has a viable manufacturing defect and is reported within 7 business days after receiving the shipment. Returns for all other reasons will have a 15% restocking fee. Upon receipt, if you have any issues with your merchandise, please call us immediately at 1-800-668-4422. Complaints or Concerns after 7 business days will not be accepted.

6. Why does Silver Tarnish?

Silver tarnishes due to the nature of the metal, but mainly it is because of being exposed to atmospheric sulphur found in air. Furthermore, if the end user of the product has high acidity (i.e. Sulpur) in their skin, this will speed up the tarnishing process for the item of jewellery. To ensure longer life of your precious silver jewellery, try to keep it in a cool dry place that is not exposed to sunlight when not worn. Furthermore, Rhodium Plated Silver has been plated and thus the underlying silver does not tarnish. HOJ offers a wide variety of Anti-Tarnish jewellery as well. Please contact us for more information.

7. What does it mean when your chains are e-coated?

E-coat is a clear lacquer that is electroplated onto a finished chain. It is an extensive additional step in plating of the finished silver chain and the chains are then baked as the e-coat layer is cured. It is a hypoallergenic coating, which is neutral to the wearer. I will prolong the “shelf life” of chains in showcases and will resist tarnishing for much longer then non e-coated or dipped chains. Please note however that it is not possible to coat all chains with the e-coating process. The process however is completely nickel free. HOJ pays additional amount to the manufacturer to have the chains e-coated but do not pass this cost onto the consumer.

8. Is your silver nickel free?

We cannot guarantee that all our products are nickel free but we do our best to ensure that most of our imported products from Italy and the USA are.
